ASP organises meet on need for special steel products for defence sector
KOLKATA: Alloy Steels Plant (ASP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd, organized a technical meet on 'Make in India – Future Needs of Special Steels for Defence' at Durgapur on Friday, July 29. Senior officials of several Ordnance Factories, Ordnance Factory Board, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL) - a wing of DRDO, Indian Navy had participated in the meet.

The focus of the seminar was on ascertaining future demands for special steels for defence, process map development and futuristic steels and their processing.

Speaking on the occasion, AK Rath, CEO, Durgapur Steel Plant said: "The Ordnance Factories are one of our biggest customers. The meet will help in fostering synergy between the two organizations."

Somdev Das, executive director, ASP asserted its commitment to cater to requirements of defence sector in general and ordnance factories in particular.
Saurabh Kumar, senior general manager, Ordnance Factory, Ambajhari, Nagpur and Narendra Kumar, general manager, Field Gun Factory, Kanpur also spoke on the occasion.
