Army launches Selection Centre North in Kapurthala
The SCN has been launched for the selection of candidates to become officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, it said.

Lt Gen R N Nair, Director General Recruiting presided over the Raising Day ceremony here and Lt Gen N P S Hira, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps also attended it, a defence release said.
He inaugurated the function by cutting of ribbon while Lt Gen Hira unfurled the Army Headquarters flag on the occasion and also released the motto of Selection Centre North (SCN) - "Nishpaksh Nihswarth Nissandeh" - which in the English means "to be impartial, without any personal motives and with firm resolve".
The SCN has been launched for the selection of candidates to become officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, it said.
The Army, as of now, selected officers for enrolment through 10 Service Selection Boards located at Allahabad (Uttar Pardesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pardesh) and Bangalore (Karnataka).
The SCN has been raised at Kapurthala as its temporary location till the permanent infrastructure comes up at Ropar, near Chandigarh.
The function was attended by senior officers representing Headquarters Western Command, Vajra Corps Headquarters Jalandhar, Military Stations Amritsar and Kapurthala besides Army Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks.
Good wishes messages received from Chief of the Army Staff, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command and the Adjutant General were also read out, the release said.
