After J&K Police filed a case against 16 army personnel, including three Lieutenant Colonels in Kupwara for alleged attempt to murder, rioting, robbery and kidnapping, both parties are taking steps cautiously to calm the tempers. J&K police maintains there is no "update in the case" as of now, while army officials informally said the "issue has been resolved and things will take its own course now." According to the FIR, army personnel allegedly barged into the Kupwara police station on Tuesday and thrashed the duty officials in which five policemen, including an officer, were injured.

"There is no update in the case as of now," Shobit Saxena, SSP Kupwara told ET. Another police official informed that "the police had recovered and examined the mobile phone of the detained territorial army man and mined important data from it concerning the cases police were investigating. While the FIR has no mention of the cause of the confrontation, officials informed that the army contingent barged into the police station after the police raided the house of a Territorial Army personnel in Batapora village and detained him for questioning in connection with a case.
