The Jammu and Kashmir government has leased 4,80,000 Kanals (60,000 acres) situated at Mandalthang, Shayok in Durbuk Sub Division, in Leh district for five years, officials said.

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir government has granted 60,000 acres of land to the Army for a field firing and artillery range in Ladakh region in state.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has leased 4,80,000 Kanals (60,000 acres) situated at Mandalthang, Shayok in Durbuk Sub Division, in Leh district for five years, officials said.

The Army had applied for the land for setting up field firing and artillery range close to the Indo-China border.

State government officials said that the Army had been pursing the matter for the past two to three years.
