Removing Article 370 was historical step: Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane
NEW DELHI: Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane has said “abrogation of Article 370 is a historic step”.

“Abrogation of Article 370 will help Jammu and Kashmir integrate with the mainstream. The historic step has disrupted the proxy war by our western neighbour,” Naravane said during his first speech at the 72nd Army Day function at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.

The Army chief said India “has zero tolerance for terrorism. The borders are strongly guarded and India is ready for any future warfare… There are many options to respond to terrorists and the Army will not hesitate to use them.”

The Army displayed some of the latest acquisitions — K-9 Vajra and Dhanush artillery guns — at the event. In a first for any woman officer, Captain Tania Sher Gill of Indian Army Corps of Signals led an all-men contingent at the Army Day parade. CDS Bipin Rawat, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh were also present at the event.
