NEW DELHI: Amid the Doklam standoff, Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), which claims to be the largest Tibetan NGO in exile, will organise a protest rally in Delhi to highlight the issue of Tibet's independence and how it will be the “safest guarantee for India's security and peace along the Himalayas''.

The protest rally , which is scheduled to take place on Friday , is likely to rile Beijing which has in the past asked India to prevent such demonstrations against China from taking place.

“We urge the Indian government to take a proactive approach in resolving the issue of Tibet and at the same time that Tibetans must be a part of discussions concerning its borders,'' TYC said in a statement. The group said Doklam had historically been a part of Tibet but there was unanimity Related report, P 15 among historians that the region, where Indian and Chine se troops are locked in an eye ball-to-eyeball confrontation for almost two months, had be en granted to Bhutan by the 13th Dalai Lama in 1913.

According to TYC, the standoff reinforced the fact that India's security lay in an independent Tibet. “China's expansionist policies and global ambitions are clearly spelled out in the hostile and callous manner in which they have responded to the Doklam crisis. China has played the victim card, led an international diplomatic assault to portray India as the aggressor while sending out not so subtle threats to India,'' TYC said.

“China has shown no remorse in siding with nations and groups who oppose India They have plotted to limit India's global outreach by blocking its entry into NSG and obstructing its candidature as permanent member of UN Security Council.''
