All stake-holders must unite to tackle cyber crime: Ahmad Javed, Mumbai Police Commissioner

MUMBAI: Batting for a comprehensive awareness program, Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmad Javed today said that all the stake-holders should join hands with police to make the city free of cyber crime.

"Cyber world and the use of social media today is vast and complex. Some of which has led to drastic and unfortunate results, like in Paris where many lives were lost. We would like to have as many stake holders partnering with us to make Mumbai a safer place at least in the cyber world," he said.

The Police Commissioner was speaking at an interactive meeting on ' Cyber Safety and Security' here, organised by All India Association of Industries, US India Investor Forum and World Trade Centre.

"We had this series of awareness programs and had talks with various verticals including private, financial, insurance sectors and so on, because the idea is to have the campaign going," Javed said.

"We have been to colleges and schools, because given the fact that almost every student is using some sort of electronic device, they may become target of cyber criminals," the Police Commissioner said.

"Always remember that some of the technology will always be ahead of the other and that is the way it is. But the gap can be covered by sharing of experience and knowledge," he said.

The police department tries to keep up with the pace of technology through training and getting latest hardwares and softwares, Javed said.
