Akhilesh writes to Defence Ministry for setting up two Sainik schools

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today wrote to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for setting up two Sainik schools in Kannauj and Rampur districts in the state.

"The state government has started work on setting up three Sainik schools in Mainpuri, Amethi and Jhansi as approved by the Board of Governors, Sainik School society, Ministry of Defence but keeping in mind the vastness of the state there is a need for setting up two more schools in the western region," the chief minister said in a letter.

"If the Central government gives its consent for setting up Sainik schools in Kannauj and Rampur, it will attract youth of these regions towards the armed forces and they will get more opportunities," the chief minister said.

The chief minister assured that if approved, the state government will fulfill its duties for ensuring that the schools are run smoothly as per norms.
