National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) secretary Ali Larijani held a telephone conversation on Saturday ahead of Larijani's proposed visit to New Delhi.

The two sides discussed expanding economic cooperation, strengthening security and defence ties, and progress on the Chabahar Port project, India's key gateway to Afghanistan and Central Asia. Iran also lauded India for backing the SCO Tianjin formulation that condemned both Israel and the US for strikes against Iran.
