Agni V: What you need to know about the NCBM
The night trials are necessary to validate new technology on the missile, as well as new equipment added to the NCBM. Reports suggest that the range of the missile can be further improved based on the results of the testing.

India has reportedly successfully completely night testing for the nuclear capable ballistic missile (NCBM) 'Agni-V,' here are some salient facts about the missile.
- Agni-V has long-range capabilities, with an estimated range of 5,000 km, which could still go up, depending on further developments.
- The missile is about 17-metre long and two-metres wide.
- The 'Agni-V' is one of the DRDO's most advanced models, with a series of new navigation, guidance, warhead and engine technologies.
- New technologies include a very high accuracy Ring Laser Gyro based Inertial Navigation System (RINS) and the modern and accurate Micro Navigation System (MINS).
- With the Agni-V, India joins an elite club of countries like US, Russia, the UK, France and China, which boast Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) capabilities
