Guwahati: Security forces in Manipur on Thursday night arrested two hardcore militants belonging to the Kangleipak Communist Party, which is part of the People's War Group, a police official said. They were arrested from Imphal East district, the official said on Friday.

In a separate operation, the security forces recovered six sophisticated arms and a large cache of ammunition, including two China-made hand grenades, from the foothills of Salungpham Mamang Leikai near Ringpam village in Thoubal district. They also arrested a drug peddler, the official said.

Police suspect that the arms and ammunition were hidden in the area by the militant group People's Liberation Army of Manipur.
