Youths establish small scale units in J&K

Nearly 300 youth in Jammu and Kashmir have established small scale units in the current fiscal under the Centrally-sponsored Swarn Jayanti Sampoorn Grameen Yojna.

SRINAGAR: Nearly 300 youth belonging to the backward areas of Gurez, Bandipora and Sonawari in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir have established small scale units in the current fiscal under the Centrally-sponsored Swarn Jayanti Sampoorn Grameen Yojna.

District Development Commissioner (Bandipora) Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed today said these youths were provided loans of Rs 1.30 crore and a subsidy of Rs 26 lakh by the district rural development agency for setting up income generating units.

Ahmed said 21 self help groups have been established in the district so far under the same programme.

An official spokesman said here that financial assistance to the tune of Rs 6.02 lakh was given to 67 persons of Khansahib area of Budgam district under the Indira Awaas Yojna.

He said the District Development Commissioner (Baramulla) released an amount of Rs 13.5 lakh in favour of Municipal Council Baramulla to beautify the town and provide civic amenities.
