"Now there is an environment full of opportunities and India is being admired around the globe," he said.
Murthy was speaking on "Institution Building" at the Indian School of Business (ISB) here.
"Youngsters have to finally achieve the dream of former President APJ Abdul Kalam becoming a developed nation. Youngsters must work to wipe out the tears of the poorest of poor, he said.
He asked the students to have aspiration and a vision to achieve greater objectives.
"One should work hard to achieve a vision larger than life and its not an easy thing," he said.
"When we started Infosys in 1981, we decided to become the most respectable company rather than mere focussing on becoming a profitable company. If you want your people to sacrifice, then you need to first sacrifice, he said.
Replying to questions from the students of ISB, he said "If u want your organisation to grow from strength then hire best quality people."
They won't come to you unless an environment of highest professionalism is created, he added.
The principles of ethics, honesty and good value system should become a habit, Murthy said adding he has found the people from poorer and weaker sections of the society better placed in this regard as compared to rich.
