Wipro's ex-telecom head to join Aricent

Sudip Nandy, who was heading Wipro’s telecom, media and technology business, is now learnt to be joining telecom software major Aricent as CEO.

NEW DELHI: After P R Chandrasekar and Sudip Banerjee, its the turn of another former top Wipro executive to don the CEOs hat. Sudip Nandy, who was heading Wipros telecom, media and technology business, is now learnt to be joining telecom software major Aricent as CEO. Mr Nandy quit earlier this month.

When contacted, Mr Nandy declined to comment. However, a source close to him said that Aricent was definitely one of the options Mr Nandy is looking at and he would join a new organisation only as a CEO. We dont comment on market speculation, an Aricent spokesperson said.

Mr Nandy is best known for spearheading Wipros M&A efforts as its chief strategy officer. He was the man behind the $600-million buyout of US-based Infocrossing, the largest tech acquisition by an Indian company so far. In his role as a dealmaker, he completed nine M&As, including Infocrossing, and two JV transactions in 2006 and 2007. Mr Nandy, who took over as president of the telecom, media and technology business in December last year, led a $1-billion business.
