Wildlife expert Forrest Galante visits Anant Ambani’s Vantara, the world’s largest wildlife rehabilitation and rescue sanctuary

Forrest Galante, the celebrated American adventurer and wildlife expert, recently visited Vantara, the world’s largest wildlife rehabilitation and rescue sanctuary, established by Anant Ambani. Nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Jamnagar, the sanctuary impressed Galante with its extraordinary dedication towards animal welfare. During his visit, the YouTuber encountered numerous endangered species and was thrilled to witness the care and compassion given to the animals. Known for his unwavering commitment to promoting biodiversity and conservation through his expeditions and television series, Galante shared his amazement at Vantara’s scale and impact in a series of social media posts.

From elephants unwinding in temperature-controlled jacuzzis to crocodiles basking lazily in the sun at the Vantara Crocodile Rescue Centre, Forrest Galante was captivated by the world-class animal facilities at Vantara. He expressed admiration for Ambani and his tireless efforts to rescue animals from across the globe, providing them a safe and nurturing haven in Jamnagar.
"No more torture devices"
In an emotional Instagram video, Galante highlighted a touching moment where a herd of elephants discarded their old torture devices. “Imagine being chained in these devices for 22 hours a day! Never again will these horrible tools of torment be part of their lives at Vantara. They know they’ve found freedom here,” he exclaimed passionately.


"I met my dream animal at Vantara"
Galante’s excitement peaked when he encountered the endangered okapi, a species he described as his “dream animal.” Known for their exclusive folivore diet, okapis thrive on plant fibers. At Vantara, their caretakers replicate their natural diet with fresh leaves, supplemented by essential nutrients. To ensure their health, they are routinely weighed on a walk-on scale and monitored by Vantara’s biologists, ensuring optimal body condition and well-being.

The world’s most pampered elephants
Vantara’s elephants are treated like royalty, receiving daily baths, hot water massages, and even exclusive manicure-pedicure sessions. “These care routines not only keep the elephants healthy but also build a unique bond between the mahouts and their elephants,” Forrest observed.

The world’s first temperature-controlled elephant jacuzzi

One of Vantara’s standout features is the world’s first temperature-controlled elephant jacuzzi, equipped with water jets at three levels. Forrest was visibly moved as he watched the elephants revelling in the luxury of the jacuzzi, embracing the caretakers in gratitude for giving these animals the life they deserve.

“What Anant Ambani and his team have achieved here is truly remarkable. Vantara isn’t just a sanctuary—it’s a movement toward a better, sustainable future for our wildlife,” Galante remarked in one of his posts.
