MUMBAI: Vedanta Resources’ chief legal officer Mukesh Bhavnani has resigned, citing personal reasons.

Bhavnani told ET he plans to relocate to the US to join his son for some time, after which he may start his own legal practice in policy advocacy and regulatory litigation. Bhavnani had joined the group in April this year. A spokeswoman for Vedanta confirmed the development but declined to comment further.

An industry expert said Vedanta had inducted Bhavnani from Bharti Airtel after a nearly two-yearlong search for a suitable candidate. He was part of the company’s executive committee and was assigned the task of institutionalising legal processes across verticals.
