Vedanta Foundation opens new computer centre in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Vedanta foundation, a charitable trust of London listed business group Vedanta Resources Plc, has opened its 10th computer centre in Odisha to provide basic Computer, networking and internet education for underprivileged and aspirant youth.

The centre, inaugurated at Golabandh in Lanjigarh are near Vedanta alumina refinery by K K Dave, COO of Sesa Sterlite Ltd, would be helpful towards the Prime Minister's Mission of " Digital India", a Vedanta release said today.

With a heart for social development for the underprivileged population in the country, the foundation envisions to provide free coaching classes six days a week for duration of two months who wish to learn basic computer but cannot afford it due to expensive coaching fees of commercial classes, it said.

With its new computer centre at Jodabandh, the Foundation will be targeting a number of villages to provide basic computer education.

With its existing nine centers now foundation will be offering services around 105 villages in Odisha where around 1200 students are getting free computer, networking and internet education.

D P Agarwal, Founder Trustee, Vedanta foundation - said "The Foundation is committed to bring social changes through various activities for the people in India and we are happy to have ten computer centers only in Odish to provide basic foundation to economically backward talented students.

Speaking on the initiative, Lona Nayak, CEO, Vedanta Foundation said, "We, have trained more than ten lakh people from across India and the intention is to provide better employment opportunities."
