Va Tech Wabag looks to touch Rs 3000 crore in the next fiscal

Covid-19 has played spoilsport this year but the company is looking to further consolidate and expand its position as a total solutions provider in the water space.

Chennai: Va Tech Wabag, the Chennai-based global water treatment player expects revenues to cross Rs 3,000 crore in the next fiscal year which is slightly higher than its revenue of Rs 2,557 crore in FY20.

Covid-19 has played spoilsport this year but the company is looking to further consolidate and expand its position as a total solutions provider in the water space.

“This year is more of a consolidation period. We will end this fiscal with flat or marginally higher revenue,” said Rajiv Mittal, Managing Director & Group CEO of the company.

The company holds its highest ever order book of Rs 11,050 crores which comprises almost 4.5x of the topline, the company said. Some of the projects that the company has bagged include the National Mission for Clean Ganga Scheme (NMCG) to develop Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) of 150 MLD Capacity along with sewerage network of over 450 kms and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Scheme to set up a 178 MLD drinking water treatment plant in Coimbatore. Va Tech Wabag has also secured a $48 million contract for a sewage treatment plant at New Jeddah Airport, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The company said the better prospects for water treatment and conservation in the post-Covid-19 period and United Nations’ framework for clean water goals (SDG6 and ESG) would provide further impetus. It said its strength in emerging business models such as ‘one city one operator’ (OCOP) would work in its favour. Va Tech Wabag has secured two of the four OCOP projects that the Government of India has adopted.

The company also said that the pandemic has also provided an opportunity for players like Va Tech Wabag with further impetus being laid on hygiene and increased water usage for the same and would rely on technology and digital adoption to capitalise on the emerging opportunities in water treatment.
