Thierry Delaporte strikes again
For the second consecutive year, Thierry Delaporte, the former managing director and CEO of Wipro, became the highest-paid CEO in the IT sector in FY24. On April 6, Delaporte submitted his resignation, and the company named 32-year veteran Srinivas Pallia in his stead.

Salary of Thierry Delaporte
Thierry Delaporte earned $20 million salary for FY24, which is about Rs 166 crore. The ex-CEO received over $5 million in commission/variable pay and over $3.9 million in salary and allowance, according to Wipro's 20-F filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition, he received $7 million in other compensation and over $4 million in long-term benefits.

Wipro's stock growth under Delaporte
According to a Bloomberg report , Delaporte's appointment as CEO of Wipro in 2020 caused the market to erupt in celebration, as the company's shares increased by nearly 70% in just six months. During that time, the stock surge exceeded the performance of its rivals. When Delaporte was CEO of Wipro, the company's stock increased by 121.43%.

Experience
Before serving as the CEO and MD of Wipro, Delaporte was the Chief Operating Officer of Capgemini Group and a member of its Group Executive Board. During his 25 year career with Capgemini, he held several leadership roles including that of Chief Executive Officer of the Global Financial Services Strategic Business Unit, and head of all global service lines. He also oversaw Capgemini’s India operations, and led the group’s transformation agenda, conceptualising and driving several strategic programs across various business units.

The former CEO of Wipro has a master's degree in law from Sorbonne University and a bachelor's degree in economics and finance from Sciences Po in Paris. In addition, he serves as President and Co-Founder of Life Project 4 Youth, a nonprofit organisation.
