To become an architect inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and Howard Roark, the character from Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. I don’t miss out on visiting any Frank Lloyd Wright work.

First day at job
Love at first sight. Ran into my future husband when we started work at Indian Bank on the same day.

Utmost pleasure
I play Veena. I want to play it every day, but end up playing just twice a month. Of course, I am a gym rat.

Your favourite artist?
Veenai Dhanammal. I found her singing along with playing very appealing. It gave harmony and peace. I needed to learn an instrument after 40 years to keep the cognitive skills sharp.

What terrifies you the most?
Anything happening to my family.

Gods Must Be Crazy.

Best moment at work
When the human resources development chief Rajagopalan showed me a thumbs up sign when I blamed the management for all the technology ills of the bank. I told them ‘technology is in this shape because top management does not care. It cannot be fixed without the support of seniors.’

Advice to youngsters
Get off the electronics. Go for detox. There is no human interaction happening today.

Life after retirement
I want to take up teaching after retirement. I want to teach maths and physics. I want to live in hills post-retirement.

If born again, let me be born in hills and mountains.

Wearing same saree and jewelleries for important functions.

Every living soul should read ‘When Breath Becomes Air’. It is a real story.
