The Tata Sons Ltd. board on Thursday approved a fresh five year term for N. Chandrasekaran as executive chairman and set the ball rolling on the listing of the group holding company, said people familiar with the matter.

The many Tata Trusts which together own majority in the holding company may challenge the reappointment of Chandrasekaran as the Chairman.
