Tata Group's focus on oneness gives it value: Muthuraman
The value of the Tata Group is its focus on the 'oneness' of the organisation, Tata Steel Vice-Chairman and Tata International Chairman B Muthuraman on Tuesday said.
"Only very few companies like Tata... which I have been working with for more than 45 years, focuses on the oneness of the organisation... and I believe this is the value of the (Tata) Group," he said.
He said the Tata Group was one of the very few companies that believed in "oneness with society".
"An organisation's value conveys many things.. The number of products (it offers), the quality of people, but as a brand it must represent the soul of an organisation... the values of an organisation," he said.
Muthuraman said there are three types of organisations in the world -- the first focused only on development of their business and the second thinking beyond growth of business.
Muthuraman was speaking after releasing a book, "Tata: The Evolution of a Corporate Brand," penned by UK-based author Morgen Witzel.
The book portrays the evolution of the Tata Group which is published by Penguin Books India.
Witzel said the "sense of continuity" of carrying the values of the company among leaders was one of the values that made the Tatas more successful."The values of the Tata Group which was at the beginning (of the group) is still there," he said.
"Tata brand enforces each other and the great example for this is the Nano," he added.
