Takeda partners Dr Reddy's to launch dengue vaccine Qdenga in India from 2027

Mumbai: Japanese pharma giant Takeda and Hyderabad-based Dr. Reddy's Labs (DRL) have paired up to promote and distribute Qdenga, a pioneering vaccine used to prevent dengue.

Expected to be launched in the first half of 2027, it will be targeted at the private market for paediatric and adult vaccination for those between four and 60 years of age.

The $28 billion Takeda said it will lend its global expertise in vaccines research to the extensive healthcare network and commercial reach of Dr. Reddy's Labs in India.

The expected price range for Qdenga was not disclosed. Prices for Qdenga varies widely and hinges on the paying power. In a few European countries, Qdenga is priced at over $200 for two doses while in markets like Indonesia, the vaccine is priced at $80 for the full course.

India's top regulatory agency, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) approved the vaccine for use in July 2026.
