Suzlon gets M&A of the year award from E&Y

MUMBAI: World's fifth largest wind power equipment supplier Suzlon Energy on Thursday said it has bagged a merger and acquisition of the year award from professional services provider Ernst & Young for takeover of Germany's REpower Systems.
Suzlon clinched the euro 1.35-billion REpower deal after a five-month battle against French nuclear major Areva in May this year.
"The company was awarded the Euromoney and Ernst & Young Globlal Renewable Energy Award for 'M&A of the year' for successful acquisition of REpower Systems," Suzlon informed the Bombay Stock Exchange in a filing.
The company is the first Indian company to win the award, it added.
The acquisition, the company said, will accelerate its expansion into the European wind energy market, constituting nearly half of the global wind energy market.
The company's shares closed at Rs 1,778.10, up 0.5 per cent on the BSE.
