Star India announces two top appointments
Star India on Thursday promoted Uday Shankar as Chief Executive Officer and named Jagdish Kumar the Chief Operating Officer.
The announcement was made by STAR acting CEO Paul Aiello, who was brought in after Peter Mukherjea left the television company earlier this year.
Uday Shankar, who joined the company as COO in May 2007 would be responsible for STAR's overall business in India and would report to Aiello, a statement from Star said.
Jagdish Kumar, who is currently Senior Vice President Finance and is based in Hong Kong, would report to Shankar and work closely with him in optimising operational efficiencies, it added.
"We have a commendable team in place, featuring some of the best talents in the television industry and I am confident that under Uday's leadership, STAR will accelerate its growth in this burgeoning market," the statement said quoting Aiello.
Shankar served as CEO of STAR joint venture MCCS for over three years and was the editor and news director of India Today prior to joining STAR.
Kumar had spent eight years with conglomerate ITC in a number of roles including Financial Controller before joining STAR.
