Sixty corporates to chip in for Motif Charity Walk

The 11th Motif Charity Walk 2013, in Ahmedabad, will see 60 corporates and over 5,000 participants giving charity to voluntary organisations,

AHMEDABAD: The 11th Motif Charity Walk 2013, in Ahmedabad, will see 60 corporates and over 5,000 participants giving charity to voluntary organisations like Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, that works for women empowerment and social justice; Jivdaya Charitable Trust, working for stray animals and birds; Prabhat Education Foundation, that nurtures children with special needs and difficulty in learning as well as Special Olympics Gujarat Charitable Trust, that empowers people with intellectual disabilities.

The 5 km walk and 10 km run will be held on February 17 and will start from L D Engineering College and will pass through B K School of Business Management, Vijay Char Rasta, Helmet Circle, IIM-Ahmedabad and then return to L D Engineering College.

"The idea is to promote health awareness along with social causes," said Kaushal Mehta, CEO of Motif Inc. Put together, the previous 10 walks have seen participation of about 38,500 people and raised Rs 2.5 crore for 27 voluntary organisations.

No beneficiary organisation is repeated and donor companies give cheques directly to the organisation. The registration fee of the participants is matched equally by Motif upto a ceiling of Rs 10 lakhs.
