Six Indian companies in Hewitt Leaders 2007 Survey

Hewitt Associates on Thursday announced the results of its top company for the Leaders 2007 Survey. Six companies have made it to this list in India.

MUMBAI: Hewitt Associates on Thursday announced the results of its top company for the Leaders 2007 Survey. Six companies have made it to this list in India. Hindustan Unilever, Infosys Technologies, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services and Thermax bagged the first six places, respectively. While five of these found a place among the Asian top companies, four found their way to the global top companies’ list.

Said Douglas Baillie, CEO and MD, HUL: “The employees need to be given bigger and challenging roles to strengthen the environment for personal growth. In HUL, employees change roles in every 2-2.5 years.” There were 244 participants from 15 countries from the Asia Pacific region. Ajay Soni, practice leader, consulting, Hewitt Associates said: “This indicates that having a world-class attitude around leadership development is not the exclusive privilege of western organisations.”

Speaking on the issue of building leadership, Girish Vaidya, senior VP and head — Infosys Leadership Institute said that they had three leadership tiers. “Tier 1 includes leaders of business enabling functions. Tier 2 has people who can take on the Tier 1 responsibility in 3-5 years and in Tier 3, the employees are expected to take the Tier 2 category in 3-5 years,” added Mr Vaidya.
