Singapore's chief Indian industry organisation gets new CEO

Chowdhury, 53, has been based in Singapore since 1986 when he was appointed the chief economist for Asia Pacific at Merrill Lynch & Co.

SINGAPORE: Indian business executive Sanjoy Chowdhury is set to take over as the chief executive officer of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICC) this week.

Chowdhury, 53, has been based in Singapore since 1986 when he was appointed the chief economist for Asia Pacific at Merrill Lynch & Co.

He has worked for a number of leading Indian corporations including Tata Group, Industrial Finance Corporation, Ispat Industries and Essar Oil, and was earlier based in Mumbai and Hong Kong.

He takes over from Hernaikh Singh who left SICCI to pursue other interests, SICCI announced today.
