Sial is new Saab country head

SWEDISH defence major Saab Group on Monday appointed Inderjit Sial as its country head in India, replacing Jan Widerstrom, who will now head the Asia Pacific region of the company.

NEW DELHI: SWEDISH defence major Saab Group on Monday appointed Inderjit Sial as its country head in India, replacing Jan Widerstrom, who will now head the Asia Pacific region of the company.

In his new role, Mr Sial, will be responsible for the marketing activities of Saab Group in India, which is offering a wide variety of defence equipment, including Gripen fighter jets for the 126 multi-role aircraft tender of the Indian Air Force.

“Mr Sial has been with Saab since 2007 and has been key to steering several strategies leading to the company’s overall growth. Having spent close to 22 years in the defence industry, Inderjit brings with him tremendous experience and knowledge of the sector,” Mr Widerstrom said.

Prior to assuming the position, Mr Sial was working as vice-president, industrial cooperation in Saab, and was responsible for the company’s offset projects in India.
