Sanjeev Gupta has transformed the GFG Alliance into a global metals and industrial enterprise. It is now one of Britain’s largest industrial employers with more than 5,000 staff in its Liberty House and SIMEC groups in the UK and more 12000 globally.
Its businesses include the UK’s last aluminium smelter, its largest steel plate mill, largest scrap melting capacity, largest engineering business, one of the largest renewable energy portfolios, and a full licensed Bank.
Sanjeev Gupta has also been engaged with Indian steelmakers, buying Tata Steel UK's specialty steels business for 100 million pounds as well as two of its pipe mills.
Liberty House has also been in the fray to acquire some of the assets in the "dirty dozen" list of companies referred to the NCLT by the RBI, and is reported to have put in a bid for Amtek Auto and ABG Shipyard.
