Sahara approaches London banks for funds
Indian conglomerate Sahara approaches London banks to raise between $5 to $7 billion to finance its developmental projects.
According to a report in The Sunday Times, the fund raising would help pay for the group's plan to create 217 townships in India.
As part of the fundraising, Sahara, sponsors of Indian cricket team, is examining listing a subsidiary company called Sahara City Homes on the London stock market, the report said.
In the past three decades, Sahara, chaired by Subrata Roy, has become one of India's biggest success stories. It has grown into one of the country's largest private employer, with interests ranging from finance, travel, property and media.
