Rs 15,000-cr fund to help SMEs for Games
The Rs 15,000-crore fund announced by the finance minister in the Union Budget for skill development has opened a plethora of oppor-tunities for SMEs.
This, according to ministry of MSME secretary Dinesh Rai can provide for training and developing manpower for the tourism & hospitality industry (from the SME sector) in view of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the London Olympics.
SMEs can also help bridge the deficit of rooms available for the Commonwealth Games, currently 30,000. Apart from bed-and-breakfasts, the government is facilitating setting up of new hotels in the NCR region, and giving tax breaks for this. And SMEs are coming up in hordes to participate in this room boom.
