Rourkela Steel Plant extends financial support for Industrial Safety Museum

ROURKELA: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has extended financial support to set up an Industrial Safety Museum at the Multi Disciplinary Centre on Safety, Health & Environment (MDC on SHE), Bhubaneswar, a Government of Odisha sponsored Autonomous Institute.

The Institute is generating awareness pertaining to issues related to safety, health, environment and pollution control among the industrial population through training, workshops and seminars conducted across the state, a release from RSP said.

It also provides professional expertise to industries and offers courses in industrial safety management and safety engineering, it said.

A cheque for Rs 9 lakh was presented by RSP's CEO G S Prasad to G.D.Rath, Secretary, MDC on SHE here on November 25 for this purpose, the release said.

SAIL has earlier extended financial support of Rs 50 lakhs for construction of a block in the institute, which is now named as 'SAIL block'.

The Industrial Safety Museum that will be set up in SAIL block will go a long way in creating awareness amongst the students as well as people attending different training programmes regarding the various safety hazards, safety appliances and their usage, it added.
