RNRL submits extract of MoU with Mukesh to HC

Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Natural Resources submitted to the Bombay High Court an extract of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ambani brothers for division of the Reliance group companies.

MUMBAI: Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Natural Resources on Wednesday submitted to the Bombay High Court an extract of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ambani brothers for division of the Reliance group companies. RNRL filed this extract to support its claims on gas from the Krishna-Godavari fields owned by Reliance Industries.

The MoU was the basis of the division of Reliance empire between the Ambani brothers. RNRL claims that the MoU is relevant to the gas supply agreement signed between RIL and RNRL.

The MoU was submitted in a sealed envelope and both parties requested that the information should not be made public and its use should be restricted to court. RIL counsel Harish Salve said he had the right to examine the document.

Arguing before the court on Wednesday, RNRL counsel Ram Jethmalani said RIL had signed the gas supply agreement even before RNRL shares were transferred to Anil Ambani. The GSMA was signed surreptitiously and is a bogus document, Mr Jethmalani said.

The division bench comprising Justices JN Patel and KK Tated is hearing the dispute between RIL and RNRL over the master agreement on supply of natural gas from RILs Krishna-Godavari reserves to RNRLs power plants.

The arguments in this case are likely to continue on a day-to-day basis from October 15 and are expected to be completed by October 18.
