ReNew COO Balram Mehta exits after 14-year stint

Mehta was among the first employees at the Sumant Sinha-promoted company. He headed its wind business that has an installed wind power-generation capacity of 4.7 GW.
Mehta's exit was announced through an internal email Wednesday.
He had joined ReNew in 2011 and was designated as COO & group president, services business and wind projects. He used to also oversee the entire asset management function and the digital transformation program at ReNew.
“His resignation was formally announced by Sinha to employees today (Wednesday). Sivaprasad Manikkapurath, the president, solar utility scale at ReNew will take over the responsibilities from Mehta immediately,” said this person aware of the details. Sivaprasad has been with ReNew since July 2020.
A company spokesperson did not reply to an email seeking comment. Mehta could not be reached for comment.
Mehta, an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, has more than 25 years of experience.
Prior to joining ReNew, he worked with CLP Wind Farms (India) Private Ltd.
“He was a senior hand at the company for a very long time and his future move will be watched keenly in the renewable energy space,” said a second person aware of the development.
