Reliance Jio data plan tariffs: All you want to know

Mukesh Ambani gamechanging Jio will force the country's top operators to rethink their tariff. Ambani's offer is going to spike the demand for RJio connections. Jio users can optimise their data rates to cost as low as Rs 50/GB but here's what the tariff will cost you:

Starting from the base plan of Rs 149 valid for 28 days, a consumer will get:
1) 300 MB 4G data
2) Free unlimited local/STD voice calls,

3) Free Jio app subscription worth Rs 1,250
4) Free 100 local/STD SMS.

With Rs 499 pack, a consumer will have benefits like:

With this plan, 1 GB 4G data will cost you Rs 124.75.

The next Jio plan is of Rs 999. With this pack comes

Jio's commercial launch will be on September 5 and it plans to cover 90% of India by March, 2017. Reliance Jio's app booking, worth Rs 15,000 for an annual subscription, will be available free for all active customers till December 31, 2017. Ambani also said that Reliance Jio will offer 300 TV channels, 6,000 movies, 2.8 million songs in 10 languages via its app.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday announced the launch of Reliance Jio with a bouquet of offers and freebies. Users must have googled a lot about the Reliance Jio tariff plans, SIM and other details. With its fully corporate launch on Monday, Jio will become India's only 4G network provider.

Reliance Jio tariff plans start as low as Rs 19 for the occasional data user. The monthly plans start Rs 149 and go up to Rs 4,999. The catch here is that there is no 1 GB data plan. A user will get 100 MB data for Rs 19, valid for one day while for Rs 129, a user will get 750 MB data valid for 7 days. A user cannot avail the Rs 19, Rs 129 and Rs 299 packs as a first recharge. The data used by the consumers for Jio applications, Video calls and other content available on the internet would be uniformly debited against plan data allocation," said the company.

Reliance Jio is offering free unlimited night LTE data with all the packs except Rs 149. However, a user can use this data only between 2 AM to 5 AM - for three hours only. As Mukesh Ambani said, they have designed it to pass on the idle network capacity at night to the customers. "We are also designing Jio applications in such a way that our customers can program their downloads to happen during night-time, when they have unlimited data. So, even when your are sleeping, the network is working for you to reduce your data cost," said Ambani.

Targeting the youth, Reliance Jio has offered 25% more data to a student with a valid ID card. It is also in the process of connecting the majority of India's schools and colleges with Wi-Fi to provide broadband wireless data access to students in their classrooms.

Reliance Jio claimed that its 4G network already covers 18,000 cities and towns and over 2 lakh villages across India and by March, 2017 it aims to cover 90% of India's population. India's first only 4G LTE mobile network and this means no "mostly 2G, sometimes 3G and once-in-a-while 4G", claimed the company. "We have also deployed the largest 100% Voice over LTE (or VoLTE) network to provide crystal clear voice," said Jio.
