Ravi Bangar named head of WTO body

The World Trade Organisation has named India's Deputy Permanent representative in Geneva, Ravi Bangar as Head of the Working Group on Trade, Debt and Finance.


NEW DELHI: The World Trade Organisation has named India's Deputy Permanent representative in Geneva, Ravi Bangar as Head of the Working Group on Trade, Debt and Finance.

The Working Group would study the inter-play and impact of debt and finance on world trade and submit its report to the WTO General Council, a WTO sattement said.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Noor of Malaysia has been appointed head of the General Council. Australia's Bruce Gosper has been named chairman of the Dispute Settlement Body, while Finnish Vesa Himanen would chair the Trade Policy Review Body.

Julian Metcalfe of UK would head the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements.
