Ratan Tata introduces Cyrus Mistry to Narendra Modi
Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata and his successor Cyrus Mistry paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.
"Ratan Tata introduced Cyrus to the chief minister. They expressed interest in the efforts made by Gujarat in energy sector, especially geo-thermal energy. The officials said the group is committed to be a partner in the state's journey towards progress as well as in development of human resources in the state," the release said.
Tata Chemicals Limited, Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Motors have their operations in Gujarat, while another group company Tata Power Limited is coming up with a Ultra Mega Power Plant at Mundra in Kutch district.
The relation between the Tata Group and the state government after Modi-led administration in the state offered 1,100 acres for the mother plant of Tata Nano and helped the group relocate from Singur in West Bengal, where it was facing protests from farmers. In October, 2009, the group announced that it is relocating the plant for Nano from Singur to Sanand.
