Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the star speaker at the ET Now Global Business Summit (GBS) being held on February 9-10 at New Delhi's Taj Palace Hotel. The summit will hold deliberations on the theme of 'Disruption, Development and Diversification.'

At the summit, the Prime Minister is expected to lay out his vision for a new India, having set a goal to make the country a developed $30-trillion economy by 2047.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) last week raised India's growth forecast for FY25 to 6.5%, from 6.3% projected earlier, underscoring the economy's buoyancy. India is expected to expand by a better-than-expected 7.3% in the current year. According to IMF estimates, India will become a $5-trillion economy in FY28, after hitting $4 trillion in 2024-25.

At the previous edition of the summit in 2023, the Prime Minister had said, "India's growth is the world's growth. The world can only get better if we all work together."

This year, the summit is being held in the wake of the interim budget for FY25 that was presented on February 1. "This budget carries the guarantee of strengthening the foundation of Viksit Bharat by 2047," the Prime Minister had said after the budget presentation. He had added that his government will empower all four pillars of Viksit Bharat-the youth, poor, women and farmers.

The interim budget said the government will take up next-generation reforms and build consensus with the states and stakeholders for effective implementation.

"We set a big goal, achieve it, and then set an even bigger goal for ourselves," PM had said after the interim budget.

Speaking about the event, Vineet Jain, managing director of The Times Group, said, "This year's summit will, once again, serve as the fertile grounds on which thought-provoking discussions and exchange of ideas will contribute to resolving some of the most pressing global challenges plaguing our communities and lives."

Among the prominent speakers at the summit are Raymond T Dalio, founder, Bridgewater Associates; Bill Winters, chief executive, Standard Chartered Bank; Ravi Kumar S, chief executive, Cognizant; and Michael Spence, economist and Nobel Laureate.
