CHENNAI: No longer is taking a sabbatical or being a mother an issue with parttime permanent career options now beckoning women. Chennai-based personnel consulting agency, Avtar Career Creators, has been obtaining mandates from companies for recruiting women professionals for part-time jobs. Company Client Services Chief K Umasanker said women entering the working world even at a late age, sans experience, and making a success of it is not only possible, but actually happening.
“We are currently handling a project to hire over 100 women employees for a large multinational, with precisely the above-mentioned description ,” he said. It is learnt that the placement will be done out of Chennai for a multinational bank. And the qualification is, women candidates, with no specification excepting a good command of English and the right attitude.

But the current recruitment trend is not restricted to women managers with proven expertise, albeit with a break in career. It spans the gamut of young mothers who are first-time employees, voluntary retirement services optees, students over the age of 18 and even grandparents.
While the industry is quick to lap-up talent of any kind for its ever-increasing needs, on a temporary basis, there is a difference – the careers being crafted by Avtar for its clients are permanent ones – with all the trappings of PF, Gratuity and Performance bonus, but for just 50% of the working hours.
