TCS has announced that it will link hikes and variable payouts to compliance with its recent return-to-office (RTO) mandate. Unit heads have communicated to their teams that grades, necessary for promotions, will be based on their track record of working from the office, a TOI report stated.

TCS is offering digital compensation to freshers who have completed assigned courses, making them eligible for higher salaries beyond the annual compensation of Rs 3 lakh. Sources have revealed that compliance with the return-to-office policy will be a prerequisite for approval of these cases.

According to TOI, TCS is requiring employees to return to the office for all five days of the week, marking the end of work from home for certain teams. Employees have been instructed to go to their designated offices rather than choosing those closer to their homes. Some employees are willing to forgo the city allowance for more flexibility. The HR department is granting limited work from home on a case-by-case basis.

TOI has learned about TCS's return-to-office policy through internal communication between the HR team and employees. However, TCS has not responded to TOI's request for comment at the time of publication.

In other news, the crime branch has interrogated an RTO officer for six hours in a firing case. The prosecution is preparing to oppose Gita Shejwal's anticipatory bail plea.

TCS has expanded its partnership with UK insurance company Aviva. The company will now manage 5.5 million policies through Diligenta, a TCS BaNCS-based platform. This move aims to enhance customer experience and administration of Aviva's books of business. TCS, one of the largest IT employers in the UK, plans to double its workforce in France.
