Most honchos prefer a BlackBerry as their business communications tool. However, Canon India vice-president Alok
Bharadwaj begs to differ. He uses a Nokia N95 for both official and personal tasks. “I’m not much of an email person. I find sending a SMS much more convenient than an email.” Bharadwaj receives around 40 SMS’ a day and sends around the same number.

So besides the SMS feature what else does he like or for that matter dislikes about his Nokia phone? “The buttons on the keypad are too small, so at times sending SMS becomes a bit of a problem. Also broadcast messages sent to multiple recipients take time to deliver. But I am happy with it’s screen size,” he answers.

He has a Dell laptop too. Though he can’t recall the specific model, he explains that it’s the latest sleek version. “It has a good battery life. It’s light weight so is very easy for me to carry it while travelling. On-board flights I do my offline work and at airport lounges I send emails,” he says. Though Bharadwaj used his iPod extensively till last year, he doesn’t carry it any more.

“Since my iPod is as big as my phone, it’s inconvenient to carry both gadgets. I now listen to music on my Nokia phone. I carry my iPod only on holidays.” He is looking forward to buying a big screen LCD-TV. Though Bharadwaj is tech savvy and enjoys technology too, he’s not very net savvy. “I do not surf the internet for entertainment nor have I ever visited a social networking site. I use internet only for information,” he says.

As for cameras, he keeps changing them owing to his association with a camera company. He likes to print digital images and here’s some useful tip: “If one uses an art paper for printing photographs instead of a photo paper, the picture actually looks like a painting.”

On a scale of 10, he will give himself seven for being tech-savvy. “Technology has made our lives interesting. Though the right knowledge about the use of technology is lacking,” he concludes.
