In a disclosure dated November 5, Titan said Tata would cease to hold the positions of Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director and Vice-Chairman from November 12.
The Tata Group's governance framework sets 70 as the retirement age for Non-Executive, Non-Independent Directors. Tata's departure from Titan's board is in line with this provision.
Tata joined Titan's board in March 2022 and has spent more than four decades with the Tata Group, holding senior positions across several of its businesses.
He is currently Chairman of Trent, Voltas and Tata Investment Corporation, and Vice-Chairman of Tata Steel. He also chairs Tata International and Tata Trusts.
His exit from Titan raises the question of whether the age-based retirement provision could trigger similar changes in his board positions at other Tata Group companies.
However, Titan's filing is limited to his departure from its board and makes no mention of any changes to his other positions within the group.
Publicly available corporate disclosures reviewed for this report continue to list Tata as Chairman of Trent, Voltas and Tata Investment Corporation, and Vice-Chairman of Tata Steel. No corresponding retirement announcement by these companies has been established in the filings reviewed.
Tata's retirement from Titan's board will take effect on November 12, the company said.
