No level playing field with Chinese cos in India: Intex
Chinese manufacturers get incentives for setting up base in India, which in no way can be compensated by the Indian government, says Rajeev Jain, director at Intex.

“Chinese manufacturers that set up base in India get some incentives, which in no way can be compensated by the Indian government. They’re getting export incentives, marketing incentives from the central government and the provincial government as well,” Rajeev Jain, director at Intex, told ET on Friday.
The company wants the duty on completely built units to be increased to 20% from 15% so that domestic manufacturers are at the same level as importers and are encouraged to expand production capacity.
Chinese brands accounted for more than half of the smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2017, according to the Counterpoint Technology Market Research. Their market share exceeded 50% for the third successive quarter after racing ahead of local rivals such as Intex, Micromax and Lava in the second half of 2016.
