The not-for-profit project is envisioned as a lifelong home for more than 5,000 residents, including orphaned children, senior citizens and people with developmental disabilities. Along with caregivers, medical professionals, support staff and their families, the township is expected to support a wider community of around 15,000 people.
Mukesh Ambani and members of the Ambani family were present at the ceremony, which was held on Nita Ambani’s birthday. Speaking at the event, Nita Ambani said the project would bring together residential care, medical support and opportunities for education, work and personal development. “We envision a community where compassionate care and medical support come together with the warmth of family life,” she said.
The township will be developed in phases, subject to necessary approvals. It is planned as a community rather than a conventional institutional care facility, with residents living in small, family-style homes supported by house parents and dedicated caregivers.

According to the foundation’s plans, the project will include eight residential villages, each named after a sacred river of India. The proposed facilities include a hospital, rehabilitation centre, special-needs dentistry, epilepsy care, palliative care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and hydrotherapy.
The township is also expected to have a temple, gardens, farms, playgrounds, workshops, cafés and sports and recreational facilities. A proposed animal companionship farm will be developed with expertise from Vantara.
Residents will have individualised care and development plans covering healthcare, education, skills, employment and personal wellbeing. The plans will be reviewed periodically in consultation with residents and their families.
The initiative will also have a community-facing component. Around 1,000 people from nearby areas are expected to access therapy, education and employment opportunities, while mobile medical clinics, respite homes and outreach programmes will extend support to families in neighbouring districts.
Nita Ambani said the project was intended to give families peace of mind about the long-term care of loved ones who may require continuous support. “Above all, we hope Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray gives every person, at every age, the chance to live with dignity,” she said.
