ESDS Software Solution, a Nashik-based company, has launched Swaraj Cloud, an artificial intelligence (AI)-autonomous sovereign cloud platform that runs entirely on Indian soil. Swaraj Cloud is designed for enterprises, banks, government bodies and regulated industries that cannot afford to keep building India’s digital future on infrastructure governed by foreign law.

As per the company, the platform operates on ESDS-owned physical infrastructure located in Indian data centres and functions under Indian jurisdiction, giving it 100% Indian data residency. The launch comes as companies and government bodies face rising requirements under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's (MeitY) Cloud Selection Framework for government workloads, and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines on data residency for the banking sector.

Addressing India's Digital Dependence

Pointing towards India's large Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem, Piyush Somani said that more than 70% of the country's workloads still run on infrastructure located overseas. He said this dependence leads to economic outflows, strategic vulnerability, and rising geopolitical and compliance risks.

Somani described Swaraj Cloud as "India's AI Autonomous Architect Cloud Platform, built in India, governed in India, and engineered for global scale." He said the platform is designed to close this infrastructure-level gap.

As per the company, Swaraj Cloud brings together more than 30 services and 80 integrated intelligent capabilities under one sovereign cloud ecosystem. ESDS says this integration is meant to speed up digital transformation for businesses and government users alike.
