Narang prefers Vaio, but with plasma TV monitor

Sudhir Narang, CEO of Tulip IT Services, is completely hands on with technology. The ex-BITS Pilani alumnus’ entire home has Wi-Fi connectivity.

The CEO’s first brush with technology in the day happens when he starts operating his Sony Vaio P Series, post the Yoga sessions at 6 am. “I have opted for a compact laptop as its easy to carry and best for handling e-mails,” the ardent Art of Living follower adds.

Though Narang uses a plasma TV as the monitor for his laptop, he has only done it for better visibility. Post his engagement with Sony Vaio, the Blackberry becomes his partner. The Blackberry gives him company all the way to his office in Okhla (south Delhi) from Preet Vihar in east Delhi.

He is also a jazz enthusiast and he finds time for it on Sundays. Making the atmosphere livelier is his state of the art stereo system. This ex-Cisco senior V-P has a Denon surround system complemented by Jamo Speakers. He loves Ghazals, Kishore Kumar and Lata melodies along with peppy western numbers.

Narang has come a long way from his HCL days in 1985 (where he started his career). He was largely involved in creating the wireless and telecom business units for HCL Comnet. He was the head of HCL Comnet’s networking business when he decided to move on to Cisco in 1998.

Having handled Cisco’s business with focus on IP-contact centre and architecture for voice, video and integrated data, Mr Narang is completely hands on with technology. Narang believes that communication will drive technological growth in future. But he is quick to add a word of caution. “Technology is built for us and not us for technology.” And that’s his parting shot.
