Mid-sized cos looking for solutions to meet their needs

Most of the mid-sized companies are looking for technology solutions designed to meet their specific needs.

BANGALORE: Restricted by small budgets and staff size, most of the mid-sized companies are looking for technology solutions designed to meet their specific needs, according to a new research commissioned by global computer maker HP.

According to the research findings, two thirds of the respondents said their companies required solutions built for their company's size and challenges, since many found solutions designed for big enterprises not suitable to cater to their specific needs or business objectives.

These solutions were not affordable to these SMBs and several also found them too complex and under-utilised.

"Many either ended buying low cost entry arrays that lack functionality or expensive complex high cost arrays," HP India Country Manager (Technology Solutions Group) Manoj Suvarna told reporters today.

The expectations from these mid-size companies were different from large-scale companies since everything was different, the working environment, the budgets. Hence, they required solutions that helped them meet their business goals he said.

They required storage arrays that did not force them make trade-offs. They wanted enterprise class functionality but solutions that were simple, manageable and affordable, he added.
