KSIDC to hold women summit

KOCHI: Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation ( KSIDC) is planning to promote the activities of the women entrepreneurs in the state. The state has been witnessing a rise in the number of women entrepreneurs in the last few years.

KSIDC is organising a one day women entrepreneurs summit in Kochi on Thursday to provide a platform for the meeting of successful women entrepreneurs who are in a position to scale up their activities. `` More than 1000 successful women entrepreneurs from the state are expected to take part in the summit,’’ said Dr M Beena , KSIDC chairman.

Significantly, the Indian president of Walmart is expected to participate in the event. According to Beena , Walmart has indicated that it would step up its procurement from units promoted by women in India.

The summit will have sessions on retailing, sourcing of funds, exploring new business opportunities in food processing and hi-tech farming and tapping global markets in garments and fashion industry. The interactive sessions will provide the women entrepreneurs an opportunity to meet the stalwarts of the industry, Beena said.
