Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw ranked no. 2 in power list of UK-based Medicine Maker

BENGALURU: Biocon founder and managing director Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has been ranked one of the most influential executives in the world in the field of medicine by a top UK-based medical publication.

Mazumdar-Shaw has been ranked number two on The Medicine Maker Power List of 2015, which is an index of the 100 most influential people across the globe in the field of medicine, an annual list which is compiled by UK-based The Medicine Maker.

Mazumdar-Shaw, who is easily one of India’s most well-known women entrepreneurs, appeared on the list alongside the likes of Anthony Fauci, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, USA, and was ranked number one on the list; GlaxoSmithKline chief executive Sir Andrew Witty; Calico CEO Arthur D Levinson and Mylan CEO Heather Bresch.

The power list was compiled based on reader nominations and recommendations from a panel of expert judges. According to a statement issued by Biocon, Mazumdar-Shaw is the only India-based business leader who was featured on the list.
